If it still does it, it's most likely a corrupted save.
Try uninstalling Starbound, deleting all of its files exept your saves and redownloading it. Any help on this? I'm still a bit new to mod incompatabilities and mods in general, and I've never seen this before. I have around 6 pages of mods and I just deleted the 'smarter enemies' mod incase that was causing any issues, it seems that creatures are simply just, dying. I have failed to see a SINGLE animal aside from a bee from Frackin universe, all mobs have died before I can see them and I can confirm this due to going to the erchius mine quest, the first monster that drops from the vent to the right of the map immediately doesn't spawn, and drops the pixels it leaves apon death.
